Maackia amurensis Lectin (MAA/MAL I + II) is composed of two isolectins extracted from Maackia amurensis seeds and purified by affinity chromatography. MAA I + II can be used to detect N-linked and O-linked sialylated glycans. Neither isolectin agglutinates one blood type more than another and agglutination can be inhibited by lactose at high concentrations.
Cy3 can be used to viualize the binding pattern of Maackia amurensis Lectin (MAA/MAL I+II) in cellular imaging and flow cytometry. Cy3 is more photostable than many other flourophores and can be seen with TRITC filter sets. It is commonly combined with green-fluorescent dyes for dual-labeling.
