Product Description

Affinity-purified Succinylated Concanavalin A (Succ-Con A) is derived from native concanavalin A (Con A). This non-agglutinating lectin specifically targets α-linked mannose and glucose, eluting with α-methylglucoside and α-methylmannoside. Succ-Con A has been investigated for its ability to significantly stimulate the proliferation of human peripheral blood lymphocytes, demonstrating mitogenic activity comparable to that of native Con A, and both enhance lymphocyte levels of cyclic GMP. Unlike Con A, Succ-Con A maintains its mitogenic activity even at high concentrations. Additionally, it reversibly inhibits the growth of normal cells while restoring a normal growth phenotype in transformed cells.

Recommended Usage: Recommended dilutions of 0.5 – 10 μg/ml in Tris Buffer (20 mM Tris-HCl pH 7.5, 50 mM NaCl, 1 mM CaCl2, 0.5 mM MnCl2). Succ Con A is relatively weak blood agglutinin. More than 10 ug/ml may be required to give visible agglutination of neuraminidase treated human erythrocytes.
