Product Description
Crotalaria juncea lectin (CJL) is isolated from Sunn hemp and purified by affinity chromatography. Sunn hemp is cultivated as a green fertilizer crop in a rotation cycle to improve soil conditions, help control of erosion, suppress weeds and reduce soil nematodes.
Crotalaria juncea lectin has a molecular weight of 124,000 and is composed of four identical polypeptide chains determined by SDS-PAGE. CJL has blood group A specificity and an isoelectric point of pH 8.8. This lectin displays specificity of galactose over GalNAc and elutes with galactose. CJL interacts with serum glycoproteins, cytochrome b5 and virus surface glycoproteins (BVDV, influenza and bovine diarrhea).
This product comes in a lyophilized form and is stable for more than three years when stored at -20ëC. Reconstitute with deionized water. Metal ions calcium and magnesium are required for binding.
